A low poly generator turns a short description into a simple 3D model built from a small number of flat faces. With Npx8 you type a prompt such as "low poly wooden treasure chest", and Forge, our built-in engine, builds the shape, checks it from several angles, paints it and gives you a GLB and OBJ file you can drop into a game.
What low poly means
Low poly models use few triangles and large, clear shapes. Colour usually comes from flat or softly painted materials instead of detailed photo textures. The look is popular in indie games, mobile games, prototypes and stylized worlds because it reads well at a distance, runs fast on modest hardware and stays consistent when many assets share one scene.
Why game teams use it
Light meshes keep frame rates steady, especially on phones, the web and VR. They also load quickly and are easy to edit later. For prototypes, a low poly placeholder lets you test scale, layout and gameplay before spending time on final art.
How Npx8 builds a low poly asset
Forge works in passes. First it plans the object as simple parts, such as boxes, cylinders, turned shapes for bottles and vases, and cut-out shapes. Next it builds a grey shape you can check. Then it reviews the result from several views, fixes problems and paints a base colour. Because the model starts from simple parts, the output naturally leans towards a clean, low poly style.
Prompts that work
Keep each prompt to one object. Name the object, its main material and the style. Here are five that work well:
- low poly wooden treasure chest with iron bands, stylized - low poly potion bottle, round glass body, cork stopper - low poly pine tree, stacked cone layers, flat green - low poly stone well with a small wooden roof - low poly sci-fi supply crate, chunky edges, grey and orange
Adding words like "chunky", "simple shapes" or "flat colours" pushes the result further towards a classic low poly look. Avoid long scene descriptions; build a scene as several separate assets instead.
Keeping triangle counts low
Simple, recognisable shapes produce lighter meshes. Ask for the silhouette you need, not every small detail. Fine details such as engravings or stitching are better added later as texture. If a result has more parts than you need, use Refine on the asset page to simplify it.
Exporting your model
Open the asset and download GLB or OBJ. GLB keeps the mesh and its painted colours in one file and imports cleanly into Godot, Blender and Unity (through a glTF importer). OBJ is a widely supported fallback for older tools.
